ADL’s New Public School Hate Bill

Friday, February 26th, 2010

The Anti-Defamation League is determined to establish federally-enforced promotion and protection of homosexuality in America’s primary and secondary public schools. This year ADL repeatedly boasted it was the driving force behind the pro-homosexual federal hate crimes bill. Now ADL is making another attempt to sodomize America. Their latest legislative poison is called The Student Nondiscrimination Act of 2010.

Like the hate law, HR 4530 gives grade and high school homosexual students special rights and protection over the majority. It claims to protect students who feel harassed or intimidated because of their homosexual orientation or desire to be perceived as the opposite gender. If they feel pressured to the point that they don’t want to participate in a school activity, the bill says these students deserve the same federal advocacy given blacks under the Civil Rights Act of 1964. This bill also includes special protection to heterosexual students who feel harassed or intimidated to not associate with homosexuals. These students may also invite federal prosecution of their “homophobic” fellow students, teachers or parents.

HR 4530 says if school officials do nothing when they know a student is being harassed because of their homosexuality or heavily pressured not to associate with a homosexual student, these authorities face federal indictment. State and local governments which do not energetically educate and punish those who intimidate pro-gay students will lose federal funding.

There is no special protection for heterosexual students under assault for their sexuality. Like ADL’s hate law, ENDA and cyber-bullying bill, this legislation blatantly violates the 14 th amendment’s ban on special rights and protections to some over others.

Who Defines Harassment?

While researching my video, Hate Laws: Making Criminals of Christians (Watch it here!), I had lengthy talks with Canadian police. I asked the head of the Vancouver, BC hate crimes unit what police did when they wanted to indict a right-wing “hater” who hadn’t violated the law.

“We just get him on a harassment charge,” she told me. She made it clear that the term “harassment” is so vague and subjective it can easily and legally be used to prosecute virtually any speech critical of others. With malicious intent, The Student Nondiscrimination Act does not adequately define “harassment” or “intimidation.” If this bill passes, these ambiguous terms will be enshrined in federal law providing an excellent pretext for persecution of Christian students and faculty.

Under this act, homosexual teens can decide when they’ve been sufficiently “harassed” or “intimidated.” A grade school boy or girl who thinks they are victimized can persuade their local liberal, feminist or gay district attorney and summon the force of federal intervention. If such “victimized” children want to launch civil lawsuits against students, parents or church leaders, this bill makes it clear nothing should prevent them. As in workplaces if ENDA is passed, school authorities will be afraid to provoke homosexual students in any way. Although penalties are not stipulated, HR 4530 is intended to expand the federal Civil Rights Act of 1964 and subsequent civil rights acts which contain harsh penalties for discrimination, including imprisonment.

There is no evidence that widespread harassment of homosexuals and transgenders in primary and secondary education is an “especially severe problem,” as the bill alleges—not with tolerance education and gay/straight activist groups abounding on campuses! As with their hate bill, ADL is exaggerating an “epidemic of hate” in public schools, dramatizing rare abuses to justify massive federal jurisdiction.

HR 4530 amounts to federal endorsement of adolescent homosexuality as a legitimate, normal alternative. It puts homosexuality on a par with race, religion and gender, characteristics which the government already protects. If passed, it will flood government-sponsored educational programs into public schools to promote homosexual self-esteem. Its encouragement of homosexuality on the grade school level will destroy young consciences even before they have formed.

You Can Stop this Outrage!

Last year, ADL presented its David Ray Ritcheson Hate Crimes Prevention Act (See, ADL’s New ‘Trojan Horse’ Hate Bill) and adjunct legislation to the cyberbullying bill, the Adolescent Web Awareness Requires Education Act (AWARE) (See, Hate Bills: Protest Calls Flood House Judiciary!). Through these bills, the League tried to set up the federal government in pro-homosexual education and anti-bias hate crimes enforcement at every level of public schooling, from kindergarten to grad school. These attempts failed, but ADL’s determination is unwavering. In yet another attempt, before mid-term elections next fall, ADL hopes to quietly move HR 4530 through Congress unnoticed.

There is a good chance they can. Despite 41 Republicans in the Senate, five or six liberal Republicans could vote for it, just as they helped pass the hate bill last July. The Student Nondiscrimination Act, introduced by homosexual Rep. Jared Polis (D-CO), and with 61 cosponsors, is now in the House Education and Labor Committee. This is the same committee which powerfully endorsed ENDA this fall. That’s because 18 of 19 Republican House members, not hearing much protest from the American people, didn’t even bother to show up.

We can’t let that happen again. This bill, slanted toward ostensible protection of America’s youth, is designed to pass without much controversy. Yet it is just as dangerous as ENDA and the cyber-bullying bill—setting up the federal government as a special protector and encourager of homosexuality to our nation’s youngest and most vulnerable citizens.

Call your House and Senate members at 1-877-851-6437 or toll, 1-202-225-3121. Also call crucially important members, especially Republicans, of the House, Education and Labor Committee (names available HERE at www.truthtellers.org). Tell them: “Please do not vote for the Student Nondiscrimination Act, HR 4530. This bill denies equal justice. It gives homosexual students special rights over other students, in violation of the 14 th Amendment to the Constitution. There is little evidence that persecution of homosexual students is a severe national problem meriting federal jurisdiction.”

Here is your vital last statement: “If the senator or congressperson votes for this dangerous legislation, I and my friends will vote out Democrats in the midterm election!”

Washington Times Covers 9/11 Controversy

Friday, February 26th, 2010

A lingering technical question about the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks still haunts some, and it has political implications: How did 200,000 tons of steel disintegrate and drop in 11 seconds? A thousand architects and engineers want to know, and are calling on Congress to order a new investigation into the destruction of the Twin Towers and Building 7 at the World Trade Center. “In order to bring down this kind of mass in such a short period of time, the material must have been artificially, exploded outwards,” says Richard Gage, a San Francisco architect and founder of the nonprofit Architects & Engineers for 9/11 Truth. Mr. Gage, who is a member of the American Institute of Architects, managed to persuade more than 1,000 of his peers to sign a new petition requesting a formal inquiry. “The official Federal Emergency Management [Agency] and National Institute of Standards and Technology reports provide insufficient, contradictory and fraudulent accounts of the circumstances of the towers’ destruction. We are therefore calling for a grand jury investigation of NIST officials,” Mr. Gage adds. –Washington Times

Dominant Social Theme: Something we, the mainstream media, need to mention at least in passing …

Free-Market Analysis: We have no idea what happened on 9/11. But since 9/11 Commission members have reportedly disavowed the full government’s story – and one has written a book claiming the commission was serially lied to by the Bush administration, the FBI, CIA, etc. – we have to conclude that there are elements of the official story that are not entirely accurate. We would think that the US government would want to get to the bottom of such a serious matter, in some way or other.

Now the Washington Times, a mainstream, beltway newspaper, is seemingly opening up the issue again. There was no need to cover yet another “trufers” story and yet the Times has done so – to the astonishment of the alternative blogosphere. We think, not to make a pun, that this is in fact a sign of the times. The pressure to understand what really happened on 9/11 simply won’t go away. It is all over the ‘Net and is in fact gaining momentum in our opinion.

After the Kennedy assassination there were many questions – and one grainy “Zapruder” film played over and over for decades. But the Warren Commission never disavowed its conclusion, that Kennedy was killed by a lone gunman and a bullet that travelled in all directions at once. The 9/11 Commission (some of its members anyway) has.

Because of the Internet, there are literally millions of pictures and comments about the tragic attack. This is a matter of degrees, to be sure, but degrees matter. The impact of so much commentary – and conflicting information – seen by so many, gradually builds up. It becomes a force that cannot be traduced. The circumstances surrounding 9/11 are then qualitatively different than those around Kennedy’s death.

We have, for instance, thought long and hard why law professor and Rutger’s Dean John Farmer would want to come out with a book that basically accused the entire Washington establishment of lying about 9/11. It only occurred to us lately that Dean Farmer was WORRIED. The 9/11 Commission’s conclusions are flawed. Farmer, perhaps sanguine at one point about his role, realized one day that he was right in the middle of what would appear to be a cover-up. So he set out to rectify his situation. Now he cannot be accused. He points his seasoned finger elsewhere.

There is a rude term that describes what Farmer has done. The point is, when your top people begin pointing fingers, the cover-up, whatever it is, is unraveling. Again, we don’t know what people in Washington were – or are – up to. Farmer seems to think it was incompetence of a sort, and subsequent denial. But perhaps it goes deeper than that.

But, no, we don’t know. And before we receive any feedbacks blasting us for accusing the government of organizing or orchestrating 9/11, we will state for the record that that is not our intention, nor our purpose. We have not a single clue about what actually occurred on 9/11! Nor is it our responsibility – even within the ambit of the alternative press – to “investigate.” You try to investigate the CIA, Pentagon and FBI, dear reader. There are, to be sure, sensitivities there that are fairly beyond imagining. Here’s an article excerpt about Farmer’s book that appeared in the Salem-News:

The 9/11 Commission Rejects own Report as Based on Government Lies … In John Farmer’s book: “The Ground Truth: The Story Behind America’s Defense on 9/11?, the author builds the inescapably convincing case that the official version… is almost entirely untrue … The 9/11 Commission now tells us that the official version of 9/11 was based on false testimony and documents and is almost entirely untrue. The details of this massive cover-up are carefully outlined in a book by John Farmer, who was the Senior Counsel for the 9/11 Commission. Farmer, Dean of Rutger Universities’ School of Law and former Attorney General of New Jersey, was responsible for drafting the original flawed 9/11 report. … Farmer states…”at some level of the government, at some point in time…there was an agreement not to tell the truth about what happened… I was shocked at how different the truth was from the way it was described. … The [Norad air defense] tapes told a radically different story from what had been told to us and the public for two years. This is not spin.” … In 2006, The Washington Post reported…”Suspicion of wrongdoing ran so deep that the 10-member commission, in a secret meeting at the end of its tenure in summer 2004, debated referring the matter to the Justice Department for criminal investigation, according to several commission sources. Staff members and some commissioners thought that e-mails and other evidence provided enough probable cause to believe that military and aviation officials violated the law by making false statements to Congress and to the commission…”

9/11 has been the proximate cause for two major US wars. The Middle East is in flames and the conflagration may get worse before it gets better, with major implications for the entire world. Given what has occurred – and the nature of the stakes – doesn’t it make sense to get a fuller and more accurate accounting of what REALLY took place on 9/11? Doesn’t the US government owe it to the voters? Wouldn’t any representative government want to give its citizens an honest accounting? There are so many questions beyond the fate of the buildings themselves. Perhaps these questions are based on flawed information! Perhaps they are the outcome of paranoid thinking. The way to put them to bed is with a thorough, impartial and transparent investigation.

The Internet is a process. Those within the US government that do not want to provide a more honest accounting of what took place should realize that there is no damage control (short perhaps of a nuclear war) that will put an end to the general public’s need to know. It was too big a deal. And too much has happened since then – including the abrogation of civil rights in America, warrantless wiretapping, assertions of torture, rendition, etc. America has changed. The world has changed. But the official 9/11 story remains the same despite its obvious flaws.

The Internet is a great eroder of power elite memes – like the Gutenberg press before it. People may forget, or in some cases are unaware, that Roman Catholic Church leaders’ of the time were confident that the Church’s faux-liturgy regarding the purchase of various absolutions (”buying” one’s way into heaven as Led Zeppelin has famously put it) would not be exposed. But once people began to read the actual Bible, the truth came out. One couldn’t guarantee one’s arrival in heaven by buying old bones of Saints. There was nothing in the Bible about it, despite what the Church might maintain or imply. Communication advances are merciless that way. Cover-ups developed prior to the technology tend to fall after the fact.

We’ve long held that dominant social themes would disintegrate (to a degree) as the Internet began to bite. We have been surprised, recently, how fast this seems to be happening. The themes having to do with 9/11 and the war on terror would seem to be the last to fall because they are among the most important to the elite and help protect the military industrial complex – in America especially. But what we projected might happen in five, ten, even twenty years time seems to be happening a lot more quickly now, perhaps because the economic crisis has so focused people’s minds and made them more apt to question official judgments.

Conclusion: Yesterday, the Washington Times covered an important 9/11 story once again. It was supposed to be dead by now. As dead as Jack Kennedy. Yet articles and research regarding 9/11 are posted to the Internet every day. They are like drops of water that erode the hard shell of the established government narrative.

ATF Tries to Revoke “Montana Made” State Sovereignty Laws

Friday, February 26th, 2010

We all predicted this would happen.

In a move typical for that fear-mongering organization with an ever-swelling acronym, the BATFE has written gun dealers in the states of Montana and Tennessee to let them know the BATFE will be disregarding the states’ sovereign gun laws.

The “Montana Made” law, just like Tennessee’s Firearms Freedom Act, is very simple.

Much of the claimed federal authority to regulate firearm sales and transfers stems from a liberal interpretation of every American tyrant’s favorite subterfuge, the “interstate commerce” clause.  In essence, this is what gives the BATFE its nasty teeth.

With this in mind, Montana correctly understood that any weapon made in Montana by Montana residents and sold in Montana to Montana residents is Montana’s business and Montana’s business alone.

Montana thus sought to take charge of its firearms industry with the application of a simple truism:

Any gun made in Montana by Montana residents and sold in Montana to Montana residents is intrastate commerce, not “interstate commerce,” and thus does not full under the purview of the federal government.

Potentially, the state would be able to say goodbye to NICS checks; Brady background checks; NFA taxes, bans and NFA databases — and most importantly, federal “assault weapons” bans, which Montana and Tennessee rightly anticipated.

In effect, the “Montana Made” law would have permitted Montana gun companies to manufacture any kind of weapon banned by federal law — including so-called “assault weapons” – and sell them to fellow Montana residents.

Moreover, in this scenario, no one — neither the manufacturer nor the dealer nor the buyer — would have to kowtow to the BATFE by paying them a $200 tax and surrendering one’s privacy to their notoriously inaccurate and oft-abused National Firearms Registry.

It was a new day for freedom — and other states besides Tennessee were thinking of following suit: Alaska, Colorado, Oklahoma and Texas.

Well, the BATFE — never one to have its power downplayed (or acronym belittled)– has written letters to both Montana and Tennessee gun dealers letting them know that they proceed at their own risk.

We can only guess what new horrors those words portend — probably more dead housewives and children as disgruntled ATF thugs shoot-to-kill anyone suspected of perhaps owning a firearm not properly taxed and regulated by Washington, D.C., power brokers.

What else would be new.

A few of our members expressed interest in contacting the BATFE to vent some righteous anger – the same thing we did when the Department of Defense said they were going to ban all once-fired military brass for resale.

Remember how the DoD reneged on that commitment after just a few days due to the widespread backlash from gun owners and law enforcement?

Well, this is a bit different.  Writing the ATF and providing them with your information is akin to giving thieves your home address and the hours you won’t be home.

We’re going to take a different, less dangerous approach.

We’ve been talking to state officials from both Montana and Tennessee today to try to figure out the best way we can help these state laws succeed.

Please stay tuned to updates on this supremely important issue in our future emails.

Gov. Ritter signs tax bills into law (Isn’t that great!)

Thursday, February 25th, 2010

Candy, soda, Amazon purchases and select software will now be taxed after Gov. Bill Ritter yesterday signed into law a group of controversial bills that will suspend or eliminate a series of tax credits and exemptions.

Ritter’s signature caps a month-long legislative process that pitted Republicans vs. Democrats in a heated and often bitter partisan battle. Republicans have consistently positioned the nine bills as business-killing measures, while Democrats say they are showing the leadership that’s necessary in the worst fiscal environment since the Great Depression. The nine bills are expected to generate $15.6 million in revenue this fiscal year and $132.6 million next fiscal year.

“Signing these bills was not something I wanted to do,” Ritter said in a statement. “But it was something that was necessary in order to keep the budget balanced and to continue positioning Colorado for a strong and healthy recovery. My sincere thanks to those lawmakers who supported this package of bills and made the difficult but right decision for the future of Colorado.”

However, Republican lawmakers say the right decision by the government would be to cut bureaucracy, not to implement so-called tax hikes on businesses. The GOP this month proposed an alternative budget-balancing plan that includes a .24-percent reduction in state payroll spending for the current fiscal year and a 4.39-percent reduction for next fiscal year. The Republican senators said their budget plan would have eliminated the need for the bills Ritter signed into law yesterday

“It is appalling that Democrats can’t find a way to balance the budget that doesn’t involve raising taxes by hundreds of millions of dollars,” said a statement issued yesterday by Sen. Greg Brophy, R-Wray.

Ritter spokesman Evan Dreyer said earlier this month that the Republican budget balancing plan looks like something the lawmakers put together on the back of a cocktail napkin without much thought. He pointed out that Ritter’s administration is reducing personnel costs by more than $100 million. Additionally, the executive branch workforce has shed 1,000 employees since the economy started to decline in 2008, according to Dreyer.

“The Senate Republicans fail to grasp the magnitude of the $2 billion shortfall we’ve already closed and the $1 billion shortfall we still face,” he said earlier this month.

The new taxes signed into law yesterday include:

? House Bill 1191 will levy the 2.9-percent state sales tax on candy and soda;

? House Bill 1192 will change the so-called loophole created by the 2006 Department of Revenue rule that exempted Internet downloads or load-and-leave software form the state sales tax. Republicans and representatives from a group of software companies say that taxing the “off the shelf” part of “modified off the shelf software” would send high paying jobs out of the state. But supporters say the state tax would merely mirror the tax that most other states implement on such software;

? House Bill 1193 will force out-of-state online businesses that do more than $100,000 in Colorado to either collect the state sales tax or send a letter to customers detailing their purchases and how much sales tax they owe the state.

The tax exemption bills will go into effect March 1.

Greenspan: Worst Financial Crisis EVER, INCLUDING the Great Depression

Thursday, February 25th, 2010

Greenspan just said that the current credit crunch is “by far the greatest financial crisis, globally, ever” – including the 1930s Great Depression.

Bloomberg notes:

Greenspan said that while the economy was in worse shape in the Great Depression, the recent financial crisis was potentially more harmful than that in the 1930s because “never had short-term credit literally withdrawn.”

Greenspan also said “fiscal affairs are threatening this outlook” for recovery.

As I pointed out last May:

The following experts have said that the economic crisis could be worse than the Great Depression:

Unfortunately, virtually everything the American government has done since the crisis started has been counterproductive. See thisthisthisthisthisthisthis, thisthisthis and this.

The same is true of most other governments.

In the understatement of the day, Greenspan also called the recovery “extremely unbalanced,” driven largely by high earners benefiting from recovering stock markets and large corporations.

Suit possible over baby DNA sent to military lab for national database

Wednesday, February 24th, 2010

An Austin lawyer threatened to pursue a new federal lawsuit Monday after learning that some newborn blood samples in Texas went to the U.S. military for potential use in a database for law enforcement purposes.

The Department of State Health Services never mentioned the database to Jim Harrington, director of the Texas Civil Rights Project, who settled a lawsuit in December with the state over the indefinite storage of newborn blood without parental consent, or to the American-Statesman, which first reported on the little-known blood storage practice last spring. Harrington said he thought another suit was likely unless the health department destroys the information obtained from the blood samples or obtains consent.

“This is the worst case of bad faith I have dealt with as a lawyer,” he said Monday.

Jerry Strickland, a spokesman for the Texas attorney general’s office, which represented the health department, fired back. “During this litigation, Harrington was provided accurate answers to the questions he asked,” he said.

“Once Harrington negotiated $26,000 in attorneys’ fees and costs for himself, accepted a settlement agreement and got his desired headlines, he was satisfied and dropped his

lawsuit against DSHS. It appears recent media reports caused Harrington to backtrack in an effort to obscure how he chose to handle this case,” he said

An article Monday by the Texas Tribune, a news Web site, said the state health department sent 800 anonymous samples to the military to help create a national mitochondrial DNA database. The samples were sent in 2003 and 2007, according to the department’s Web site.

Carrie Williams, a health department spokeswoman, said the program wasn’t mentioned because, “We don’t publicize every agency initiative or contract, and obviously this is a sensitive topic.”

Texas agreed to take part in the Armed Forces DNA Identification Laboratory database project because blood spots might help identify “ethnic or ancestral origins of unidentified corpses using mitochondrial DNA,” Williams said. “We believed it was an important research project that could potentially help in missing persons cases.”

Blackwater Took Hundreds of Guns From U.S. Military using the cover name “Eric Cartman” inspired by the TV show South Park

Wednesday, February 24th, 2010

Employees of the CIA-connected private security corporation Blackwater diverted hundreds of weapons, including more than 500 AK-47 assault rifles, from a U.S. weapons bunker in Afghanistan intended to equip Afghan policemen, according to an investigation by the Senate Armed Services Committee. On at least one occasion, an individual claiming to work for the company evidently signed for a weapons shipment using the name of a “South Park” cartoon character. And Blackwater has yet to return hundreds of the guns to the military.

A Blackwater subsidiary known as Paravant that until recently operated in Afghanistan acquired the weapons for its employees’ “personal use,” according to committee staffers, as did other non-Paravant employees of Blackwater. Yet contractors in Afghanistan are not permitted to operate weapons without explicit permission from U.S. Central Command, something Blackwater never obtained. A November 2008 email from a Paravant vice president named Brian McCracken, obtained by the committee, nevertheless reads: “We have not received formal permission from the Army to carry weapons yet but I will take my chances.”

As a result of Blackwater’s disregard for U.S. military restrictions on contractor firearms, four employees of Paravant — which held a subcontract from defense giant Raytheon to train Afghan soldiers — under the influence of alcoholopened fire on a car carrying four Afghan civilians on May 5, 2009, wounding two. That incident, occurring less than two years after Blackwater guards killed 17 Iraqi civilians in Baghdad, prompted the committee’s investigation.

“In the fight against the Taliban, the perception that the Afghans have of us is critical,” Sen. Carl Levin (D-Mich.), the chairman of the committee, told reporters Tuesday afternoon. “It’s clear to me that if we’re going to win that struggle, we need to know that contractor personnel are adequately screened, they’re adequately supervised and they’re adequately held accountable.” Levin will hold a hearing on Blackwater’s Afghanistan contracts Wednesday morning.

The committee’s investigation points to the contrary. Blackwater personnel appear to have gone to exceptional lengths to obtain weapons from U.S. military weapons storehouses intended for use by the Afghan police. According to the committee, at the behest of the company’s Afghanistan country manager, Ricky Chambers, Blackwater on at least two occasions acquired hundreds of rifles and pistols from a U.S. military facility near Kabul called 22 Bunkers by the military and Pol-e Charki by the Afghans. Gen. David Petraeus, the commander of all U.S. military forces in the Middle East and South Asia, wrote to the committee to explain that “there is no current or past written policy, order, directive, or instruction that allows U.S. Military contractors or subcontractors in Afghanistan to use weapons stored at 22 Bunkers.”

On one of those occasions, in September 2008, Chief Warrant Officer Greg Sailer, who worked at 22 Bunkers and is a friend of a Blackwater officer working in Afghanistan, signed over more than 200 AK-47s to an individual identified as “Eric Cartman” or possibly “Carjman” from Blackwater’s Counter Narcotics Training Unit. A Blackwater lawyer told committee staff that no one by those names has ever been employed by the company. Eric Cartman is the name of an obnoxious character from Comedy Central’s popular “South Park” cartoon.

Blackwater personnel invoked their Fifth Amendment rights against self-incrimination when approached by the committee to explain the weapons acquisitions from 22 Bunkers, according to committee staff. Sailer, who is still deployed to Afghanistan, told the committee that he thought Blackwater was signing for the weapons to train Afghan police, a task it has never conducted.

Not all of the guns received from Blackwater have been returned to the Afghan government — and, according to committee staff, many only began to be returned after staff approached the company for an explanation. “It was represented to us that all the weapons had been returned” to 22 Bunkers, Levin said. “That is not true. Hundreds of them were not returned.” Asked if that meant Blackwater lied to Congress, Levin replied, “They misrepresented the facts, and I’d like to leave it at that.”

Raytheon did not renew Paravant’s contract for training the Afghan army, which expired in September. Blackwater still holds a contract with the State Department worth millions of dollars to protect diplomats in Afghanistan. While that contract expires this year, Politico reported on Tuesday that Blackwater, now renamed Xe Services, might acquire a new multimillion-dollar contract from the Defense Department to train Afghan police — the same police force that Blackwater’s weapons diversions from 22 Bunkers deprived of hundreds of pistols and rifles.

This is not the first time Blackwater has faced allegations of diverted weapons. In 2007, company employees came under federal investigation for improperly shipping hundreds of weapons to Iraq, some of which are believed to have been sold on the black market and acquired by a Kurdish terrorist group. A Blackwater statement at the time said allegations that the company was “in any way associated or complicit in unlawful arms activities are baseless.” The New York Times reported in November that the company is negotiating with regulators over “hundreds of millions of dollars in fines” associated with the illicit weapons shipments.

In January, Blackwater’s founder, Erik Prince, confirmed to Vanity Fair that his 12-year-old company — which has earned more than a billion dollars through government contracts in the past decade — was involved in a nascent terrorist assassination program run by the CIA, among other CIA activities. “I’m paying for all sorts of intelligence activities to support American national security, out of my own pocket,” Prince told the magazine. Additionally, The Nation recently reported that Blackwater assists the Joint Special Operations Command with the terrorist manhunt in Afghanistan and Pakistan, including with the operations of JSOC’s armed unmanned drones.

Levin said his inquiry had uncovered “inadequate oversight by the Army over this contract.” The Florida-based Army office supposedly overseeing the contract did not even have a contracting officer representative in Afghanistan when the Paravant employees shot at Afghan civilians on May 5, 2009. Yet as early as December 2008, concerned Raytheon personnel informed that Army office that Paravant personnel were carrying unapproved weapons. An officer in Afghanistan responsible for training Afghan soldiers told the committee, “We should have had better control.”

Additionally, Blackwater personnel in Afghanistan, including those involved in both the May shooting and an earlier improper weapons discharge from December 2008, have been cited for, among other infractions, drug and alcohol abuse and, in one case, an “extensive criminal history.”

Wednesday’s hearing is expected to receive testimony from current and former Blackwater/Paravant officers, including Brian C. McCracken, the former Paravant vice president who now serves as Raytheon’s chief Afghanistan program officer; Fred Roitz, a Blackwater vice president; and John Walker, a former Paravant program officer.

75 reasons to be skeptical of “global warming”

Wednesday, February 24th, 2010

* Carbon dioxide contributes to only 4.2 – 8.4% of the greenhouse gas effect

* Only approximately 4% of carbon dioxide is man-made

* Water vapor accounts for 90 – 95% of the green house gas effect

* 99.99% of water vapor is natural, meaning that no amount of deindustrialization could get rid of it

* There have been many times when the temperature has been higher than it is now including the Medieval Warming Periodthe Holocenethe Jurassicand the Eemian

* Increases in carbon dioxide follow increases in temperature by about 800 years, not precede them

* Phil Jones of the Hadley CRU, and key figure in the “climategate” scandal, admits that there has been no “statistically significant” global warming since 1995

* 2008 and 2009 were the coolest two years of the decade

* During the Ordovician period carbon dioxide concentrations were twelve times what they are now, and the temperature was lower

* Solar activity is highly correlated with temperature change:

* Studies show that half of all recent warming was solar

* Mars has warmed about 0.5°C since the 1970’s, approximately the same that earth has warmed over the same period

* The 0.7°C increase in temperatures over the last century is entirely consistent with well-established, long-term, natural climate trends

* The distance between Earth and Sun changes every year, affecting the amount of energy the earth receives

* Earth’s tilt oscillates between 21.4° and 24.8°, which affects the distribution of the sun’s energy

* Dr. Roy Spencer has written that clouds have been a more important driver of climate than carbon dioxide since 2000

* Approximately 40% of the uncertainty in temperature projections come from uncertainty in the strength of the “feedback loop” between temperature and carbon dioxide. Recent research suggests the “feedback loop” is less than half as strong than many had presumed

* James Hansen of NASA said in a simulation of temperatures from 1880 to 2000 soot accounted for 25% of observed global warming

* Research suggests that soot could have nearly as much impact on climate change as carbon dioxide

* Antarctica has 90% of earth’s ice and it is growing

* Arctic sea ice has returned to 1979 levels, which is when records began

* The Arctic ice caps have recovered from their loss in 2007

* The Arctic is now 1°C cooler than it was in the 1940’s

* Polar bear populations are increasing

* Polar bears are able to swim over 60 miles continuously

* Sea level 81,000 years ago was 1 meter higher than it is now while carbon dioxide levels were lower

* A chart of sea level change over millions of years looks like this:

* According to satellite data, sea level has been decreasing since 2005

* Instead of hurting forests, the increased level of carbon dioxide has been helping them grow

* The official “record” for temperatures only goes back 150 years

* Although the IPCC may have 2500 members, only approximately 800 contribute to the scientific writing of the report

* Only 52 scientists contributed to the 2007 IPCC summary for policy makers, although diplomats from over 115 countries contributed

* Only 20% of the members of the IPCC deal with climate science

* Head of the IPCC, Dr. Rajendra Pachauri has no background in climate science. His PhD is in economics and he worked as a railway engineer before becoming head of the IPCC

* Former IPCC lead author Ben Santer openly admits that he altered portions of the 1995 IPCC report to make them “consistent with the other chapters”

* John Christy, former lead author on the 2001 IPCC report, speaks of his former co-lead authors deliberately trying to sensationalize the report

*Richard Lindzen, another lead author on the 2001 IPCC report, accused the IPCC of being “driven by politics”

* Michael Mann’s “hockey stick” graph, which was featured prominently in the 2001 IPCC report, was created using only portions of a data set. The red line is the graph of Mann’s selected data, while the black line is the graph of all the data:

* When asked to act as an expert reviewer on the IPCC’s last two reports, Dr. Nils Axel-Morner was “astonished to find that not one of their 22 contributing authors on sea levels was a sea level specialist”

* Until 2003, the IPCC’s satellite-based evidence showed no upward trend in sea level, so they used an increase of 2.3mm in one Hong Kong tide-gauge to adjust the entire global sea level up 2.3mm

* The IPCC’s claim that the Himalayan glaciers were melting was based off of a phone interview with a non-scientist. They were forced to retract the claim

* The IPCC claim that global warming was led to increased natural disasters was based on an unpublished report that had not been subject to peer-review. They were forced to retract the claim

* The IPCC’s claim that global warming was going to lead to deficiencies of up to 50% in African agriculture was based on a non-peer-reviewed and non-scientific paper. They were forced to retract the claim

* The IPCC’s claim that “up to 40% of the Amazonian forests could react drastically to even a slight reduction in precipitation” was based on a non-peer-reviewed and non-scientific paper. They were forced to retract the claim

* The IPCC reported that 55% of the Netherlands was below sea level when just 26% of the country is below sea level. They were later forced to retract the claim

* According to the United States Historical Climatology Network (USHNC,) 90% of US climate-monitoring surface stations have been found to be “poorly situated,” meaning that they have a margin of error greater than 1°C, more than the global warming in the entire 20th century. (The US surface data is generally considered the best surface data in the world):

* Many climate-monitoring surface stations are in locations that look like this:

* Temperature measurements from climate-monitoring surface stations are collected by hand. At one surface station in California, Anthony Watts found that only data from 14 out of 31 days had been completed in a month

* If a surface station is missing data for a particular day, data from surrounding surface stations is used to fill-in. Since 90% of all surface stations are poorly situated, even if a surface station itself is not poorly situated, if its data is missing for a day, there is a very good chance its temperature will be calculated using data from surface stations that are poorly situated

* In April 1978, there were 6,000 climate-monitoring surface stations. There are now about 1,200

* The vast majority of climate-monitoring stations that were lost were rural ones, which have been shown to give the most accurate data:

* The raw data is “adjusted” by a computer program. The net effect of this “adjustment” has been to increase the “adjusted” numbers over the “raw” numbers by .5°F, an increase that has been growing year by year:

* Difference between the USHCN “raw” data (in blue) and NASA “homogenized” data (in red):

* According to a leaked email in “climategate,” “temperatures in Darwin [a monitoring station in Australia] were falling at 0.7 Celsius per century […]but after the homogenization, they were warming at 1.2 Celsius per century. [...][W]hen those guys “adjust,” they don’t mess around.”

* According to a leaked email in “climategate,” computer programmer Harry Harris called the CRU data set “hopeless,” and said “the rest of the databases seem to be in nearly as poor a state as Australia was. [...]This whole project is SUCH A MESS. No wonder I needed therapy!!”

* When looking at source code leaked in “climategate” used to “process” and “adjust” temperatures, software engineer John Graham-Cumming said he found at least five errors and “wouldn’t trust it”

* The Hadley CRU, the institution at the center of the “climategate” scandal, threw out original temperature data because it claimed it did not have “storage space”

* In 1990, Dr. Phil Jones, the man at the center of the “climategate” scandal, contributed to a paper arguing that the effect of urban warming in eastern China was “negligible.” This became a key reference source for the IPCC. It turns out that 49 of the 84 climate-monitoring stations used for this report had no history of their locations or other details. This included 40 of the 42 rural stations. Of the rest, 18 had “certainly been moved” during the study period, including one that was moved five times over a total distance of 41 km. When Jones “re-examined” data in the same area for a 2008 paper, he found that urbanization was responsible for 40% of the warming found from 1951 to 2004

* Ross McKitrick and Patrick Michaels have argued that half of the global warming trend from 1980 to 2002 is caused by urban warming

* The Hadley CRU has been accused of using data from just 25% of Russia’s surface stations, deliberately overstating Russia’s warming by .64°C between the 1870’s and 1990’s

* According to emails leaked in “climategate,” when “Climate Research” published articles by global warming skeptics, Phil Jones and others urged scientists to “stop considering ‘Climate Research’ as a legitimate peer-reviewed journal”

* William Connolly, a Wikipedia administrator and co-founder of Realclimate.org, a website that supports the theory of anthropogenic global warming, “touched” over 5,400 Wikipedia articles, routinely omitting voices that were skeptical of global warming

* Large computer climate models are unable to even simulate major features of past climate such as the 100 thousand year cycles of ice ages that have dominated climate for the past 700 thousand years

* This is a picture of what Britain looked like in the summer of 2009 when its sophisticated climate “supercomputer” had predicted a “barbeque summer”:

* The US government spends over $2.5B funding climate research every year, and over $7B when grants for technology, tax breaks, and foreign aid are included (this is while Exxon gave $22M to global warming skeptics over a 10 year period)

* Many scientist assert that government grant money is given preferentially to advocates of man-made global warming

* Bart Chilton, a CFTC commissioner, said “carbon markets could be worth $2 trillion in transaction value – [...]within five years of trading (starting). [...]That would make it the largest physically traded commodity in the US, surpassing even oil”

* The owners of the trading floor where the carbon credits will be traded, including Goldman Sachs and Al Gore, stand to earn trillions if cap-and-trade is passed

* The cap-and-trade bill allows the government police powers to come into your home and inspect it for “energy efficiency,” and to fine you every day your home is not compliant

* Australian homes now have to undergo a mandatory energy-efficiency assessment – costing up to $1500 per property – before they can be sold or rented under new laws to tackle carbon emissions

* UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon has called for “global governance structure” to monitor greenhouse gases, which everyone on the planet emits with every exhale

* The United Nations forecasts that the global population will rise, peak and then decline between 2050 and 2300 to just under 9 billion

* Despite proclamations that there is a “consensus” and the debate is “settled,” 18% of scientists surveyed in the last poll trying to discern scientific opinion do not believe in man-made global warming

* 45% of Americans think global warming is man-made, down 9% from just half a year earlier

* In the court case Dimmock v Secretary of State for Education and Skills, a British judge ruled that there were nine “inaccuracies” in An Inconvenient Truth, including Gore’s claim that sea level could rise by up to 20 ft. The IPCC’s own report predicted a maximum rise of 59cm in sea level over 100 years. The Science and Public Policy Institute has taken issue with thirty five of Gore’s claims in An Inconvenient Truth

* Al Gore bought a $4M condo feet from ocean in Fisherman’s Wharf, San Fransisco, a city he had explicitly warned about in An Inconvenient Truth

Hmm, well, that’s suspicious, but I suppose that doesn’t matter if he tells us it’s alright.

Peace of the Action’s “Camp OUT NOW”, Washington, DC

Enough is enough! It’s time we up the ante and demand that our voices be heard and heeded. It’s time that the logical and rational voices of reason get a Peace of the Action.

While the wars in Central Asia and the Middle East rage hotter and hotter, and while the suppression of our civil liberties here in the U.S. continue, Peace of the Action is demanding an immediate cessation to U.S. hostilities.

Peace of the Action will be establishing Camp OUT NOW on the lawn of the Washington Monument (with or without governmental permission) on Saturday, March 13th, (exactly 23 days from today), to be a base of operations from which we will organize and direct daily acts of Civil Resistance throughout the DC area and until our demands are officially recognized.

The first week of Camp OUT NOW, we will be holding non-violent Civil Resistance training, hosting Peace notables and being invigorated by musicians as we start building the community that we are going to need in order to help each other through the planned sustained actions.

All persons, who have had enough of “business as usual” in DC and are willing to put our anti-war, pro humanity principles into practice, are invited to come out to Camp OUT NOW and stay with us for as little or as long as you have available.

Direct acts of non-violent Civil Resistance will begin Monday, March 22nd after we have joined ANSWER Coalition in its “March on Washington” on Saturday, March 20th.

Joe Stack’s Family Doubt Suicide Note Was Written By Him

Monday, February 22nd, 2010

According to an article from the Associated press, the Austin, Texas, Suicide pilot’s note was not written by him. The note that was suspiciously found on his website almost imediatlely after the attack does not match his character.

“It sounds like it’s from some other person,” Samantha Dawn Bell, Stack’s daughter from his first marriage, told The Associated Press in an interview from her home in Norway. “It’s not him. The letter itself sounds like it’s coming from a different person. It didn’t sound like it came from him.”http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100220/ap_on_re_us/us_plane_crash_texas

This information makes the possiblity of this being a false flag operation even more possible. Rob Dew of Infowars.com also commented that this act did not fit his character. As this story develops it is clear that even if it was a sincere act it will be used to demonize the Patriot and Tea Party movements.
