AFA Major Arrested for Sexual Exploitation of a Child Charges
The Monument Police Department has arrested a Major at the Air Force Academy after he was charged with Sexual Exploitation of a Child.
Major Michael Dodson, Assistant Director of Operations with 557th Flying Training squad, was taken into custody without incident at his office Monday.
Air Force Academy Spokesman John Van Winkle tells NEWSCHANNEL 13that the Academy will assist in the investigation in any way possible and will await the outcome of the trial before making a decision on Dodson’s future with the Academy.
On March 2, the Monument Police Department was contacted by a Special Agent of the Federal Bureau of Investigation in reference to an Internet child pornography and possible sex assault on a child case. Based on the information obtained from the Agent and a review of the chat logs, the Monument Police Department drafted a Search Warrant for Dodson’s home. A search was conducted at Dodson’s home and office at the Air Force Academy – all of his computer equipment was seized and taken into Evidence for a Forensic Investigation to be conducted.
Dodson is being held on $10.000.00 Bond at the El Paso Criminal Justice Center.
